| SIKH LI OFFICERS ASSOCIATION | | | | Overview | | | A forum for retired officers of the regiment to keep in contact with each other was created with the formation of the SIKH LI Officers Association at Delhi on 9 September 1999. General VP Malik mooted the idea and Lieutenant Colonel BB Sharan, the Secretary, implemented it by registering the Association with the Registrar of Societies in Delhi. Major General Niranjan Singh, AVSM, MC is its President. The objectives of the Association are: - To help retired officers keep in touch with each other and with the Regiment.
- To foster espirit de corps amongst the serving and retired officers of the Regiment.
- To assist the widows of officers, and war widows, in receiving their proper dues from the Government.
An Executive Committee has been formed by the Association and it was formally launched on 23 January 2000 at a function held at the Infantry Hostel in Delhi. The Annual General Body Meeting was held, followed by a lunch. A distinctive feature of this function is to pay homage to officers of the Regiment who have been killed in operations. The Association is also the forum for making contact with the Sikh Pioneers and Sikh LI Association in England.
The fellowship of shared hardship and dangers in a worthy cause creates a close bond of comradeship. The Regimental Centre has been at the forefront in assisting the Association in the furtherance of its objectives. The Association meets annually on the first Sunday of February, every year.
